The French Olympiad Association (Francolympiades) organized the second edition of the Social Sciences Olympiad in French. The contest in which hundreds of students participated is a pioneer in the French speaking education scene.
The finale took place in Brussels on the 4th of May. During the afternoon the finalists were challenged to defend their research in front of the professional jury. The laureates of each category (health, citizenship, social cohesion, education and others) repeated their presentation during the prize ceremony in front of the jury, being Françoise Bertiaux (Member of Brussels Parliament), several other politicians and academics such as Sarah Turine, Barbara Trachte, Guy Lebeer, Abraham Franssen, Huseyin Cakmak, …
The first prize went to Isaline Caurivaud. She was given a check of 500 Euros and the opportunity for a social internship abroad for her research on child pornography. Françoise Bertieaux stated that the social internship was a fitting prize for the champion. The other finalists were also given a prize for their performance.
The Isalines were the biggest winners of the Olympiad. Isaline Charlier, Isaline Thirion and Isaline Caurivaud were three of the six category champions. The winner of the category Education was Sofia Gazon. Calvin Kirkpatrick came in first in the category Citizenship and the duo Adrien Préat and Guillio Bellio won the first prize in the category Social Cohesion.
The second finale of this unique Olympiad is over, but will be continued next year.
