The finale of ‘Colors of Belgium’ contest that organized by Beltud (The Association for the Belgian-Turkish friendship) was amazing. The third edition of this competition’s jury members were a professional singer and cellist Penelope Turner, violinist Karel Coninx graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels; former co-chair of Ecolo and musician Sarah Turine, director and advisor communications with Media Entertainment Peter Way, composer and performer of traditional Turkish folk music Lütfü Gültekin, President of Beringen Music Club Ismail Erdoğdu, advisor to the Flemish Ministry of Culture Pascal Verschuere.
Children from different cultures give us a message of empathy, dialogue, friendship and togetherness on stage. All children had to perform in a language other than their mother tongue and that made the contest special. So had the children the opportunity to develop their intercultural skills and empathy with other cultures. More than 1000 invitees which including the Brussels ministers Bruno De Lille and Emir Kir and Brussels deputies Fouad Ahidar and Mahinur Ozdemir waving flags to support children.
