Member associations For Youth and Meridiaan took part in the initiative “soep op de stoep” (soup in the street), initiated by the city of Ghent and OCMW Ghent. From 18:00 until 20:30, volunteers distributed soup at Sint-Pietersplein, a gesture intended to fight poverty, a state affecting 1 out 7 Belgians.
“I am very glad to have helped and taken part in such an activity. I hope poverty will disappear in the world so everyone can live in prosperity”, admitted Bahadir Arslan, one of the volunteers participating in the event. “A beautiful initiative”, remarked another participant.
