Community Center Meridiaan’s participants and sympathizers attended its New Year Reception on 26 January. The attendance was excellent and as the popular proverb goes: the more, the merrier.. Indeed, the room was filled with joy for the entire event.
The reception started with a presentation shedding light on Meridiaan’s achievements throughout the year. The attendees received a general overview of Meridiaan’s activities in 2017, which were divided into three categories: education, socio-cultural activities and charity. Next year’s events will continue this trend and embrace these values as well.
Following the introduction, Ruddy Codders (Seniorenveleid, Werk, Armoedebestrijding and Openbaar Groen’s alderman) took the word. He mentioned to the importance of guiding and accompanying children. “Exactly what Meridiaan does”, he said. He commended the organisation’s efforts to contribute to society.
Towards the end, Fedactio East-flanders’ representative came forward and thanked all the participants and the organizations KOZA, BELTUD, For Youth and VIC for their continued commitment.
This year’s reception will be difficult to equal: the cozy and friendly atmosphere, seasonal specialties, they all contributed to a successful evening. And thanks to the Women’s association, there were countless delicacies to try out.
