Meridiaan takes an active part in the “Grote Kuis” (the great clean-up) in Gent

All students participate enthusiastically.

The Grote Kuis took place in Gent on Sunday 25th May 2018, during which a spring cleaning was organized, aimed to enhance the eco-friendliness of certain neighborhoods. This goal is wholeheartedly supported by Meridiaan’s volunteers as the importance of the project was made clear during its introduction.

In order to increase their visibility during the event, all participants were given high-visibility vests. Just after an hour of work the street was much cleaner, showing that hard work really pays off. One of the students remarked: “This is how it should always be”.

With this action, Meridiaan hopes to demonstrate the importance of partipication in such initiatives and the care for the city’s neighborhoods. Furthermore, the experience proved to be quite educational for all the students involved: by raising awareness, littering can be reduced or even stopped completely. Next year, Meridiaan will take part in the 9th edition of ‘Gentsche Gruute Kuis’ (the big cleaning of Gent).
