The relocation of B401 in Ghent: Meridiaan and For Youth speak out

Brainstorming with Meridiaan and For Youth

Meridiaan and For Youth’s volunteers had a brainstorm session on 20 April 2018 about the relocation of the B40, one of Ghent’s central roads, in a workshop lead by Janusz (Vormingplus). The session was part of the ‘Beleidsparticipatie’ in Ghent, a means for citizens to voice their opinions about current affairs and policies.

One of the plans to relocate the B401 is to create a bridge over the highway to the center of Gent. For this project, the city appreciates the inputs of its citizens, and Meridiaan and For Youth were glad to oblige: at the end of the brainstorm session the participants agreed on the importance of creating more green public spaces as well as on giving priority to make traffic safer in local neighborhoods.

Thanks to the interaction between Vormingplus and the volunteers, the brainstorm session was an instructive experience for both parties. Hopefully, their optimistic prospectives will become reality and their combined efforts will create something worthwhile.
