Magnette: 'We need the Turkish community for Charleroi's furtherdevelopment'

Share it:
Federal Minister Paul Magnette (PS) had the opportunity to explain his party projects at Fedactio Charleroi before the local elections. The mayoral candidate of Charleroi met the representatives of our member associations and explained his projects for Charleroi.

Our regional office in Charleroi hosted the meeting in the framework of the project "Active Citizenship". Current Mayor Eric Massin, Federal MP Anthony Dufrane (9th place), Mahmut Dogru candidate (12th place) and Walloon MP Serdar Kılıç were also present at the meeting.

Magnette talked about his vision for Charleroi and declared that, if he is elected as mayor, he will need the help of entrepreneurial Turkish people for the further development of Charleroi. He believes that the Belgians of Turkish origin are well organized and achieve success in many fields, notably socio-culture, sports and entrepreneurship. Magnette said that "Charleroi has a number of problems. The biggest problem is unemployment. The city had to deal with a major crisis in the 70s and 80s. Meanwhile, new factories opened but this is not enough.”

The minister said he was proud of the fact that the first MP of Turkish origin, Serdar Kılıç, joined the Walloon Parliament.
