Mayor Raf Terwingen visits Vuslat Maasmechelen

Together with his two other party members Cevdet Er and Mustafa Uzun, mayor Raf Terwingen paid a visit to Vuslat Maasmechelen. This way the mayor fulfilled the promise he made during the association's active-citizenship project in the period of the previous communal elections.

Friday, 11th of Octobre at 6 PM staff members and volunteers welcomed Raf Terwingen for the first time in Vuslat. First, the functioning and activities of the association were explained to the mayor. Next the politician was informed about Vuslat's future projects.

Raf Terwingen addressed those who were present in the great hall of the building. After a speech on the political history of Maasmechelen, the mayor also talked about the projects that will be realized within the next 5 years of his mayoralty. Some of these are the renovation of the pool and the sports center Kommel, attracting some big brands to the city mall and the construction of 'Spartacus', a tramline through Rijksweg.

Finally the mayor confessed that he was planning on going to the qualifying game of the Red Devils together with his son, but that he cancelled it because of the promise he made to the members of Vuslat. The evening ended with a reception after which the mayor invited those present to celebrate the qualification of the Red Devils. He also promised to treat the members if Turkey would also qualify for the World Cup 2014 in Brazil.
