The activity’s recipe is simple: two families come together and enjoy dinner. Dinner is the ideal meal to get to know people with whom to share experiences, an encounter which will hopefully result in long-lasting friendships.

For this event, not only the host family was in charge of preparations. Instead, the guests were invited to come cook together. That is exactly what happened on Friday 23 February, on the cook-with-me evening in Heusden-Zolder, Limburg.

The menu was already planned: lentil soup, stuffed zucchinis and rice. To top it off, the host family also prepared a delicious cake and Turkish coffee. Thanks to the cook-with-me-evening, guests have the chance to enjoy dishes that would never have crossed their minds. Furthermore, the evening propelled a new friendship: both families have agreed to meet on a later date.

At the end of the evening, guests were given a kit to brew their own Turkish coffee. That was, however, not the only gift they received: the friendship they’ve started will equally change their lives.
