New Year's Reception by the education center Academie

The centre for education and youth Academie, which is active in Antwerp for 18 years, organised a reception to annouce the activities planned for 2014. The politician Claude Marinower, staff from different schools, teachers, parents and representants from NGO's were welcomed during the reception.

The head of Academie, Semih Arslan, announced in his opening speech that 100 students are enrolled on the education centre and another hundred is currently on the waiting list. The students come from 18 different backgrounds. Arslan sees this as the proof that education is a general problem that is common to all, regardless of their origin.

Then, the coordinator of the centre, Maxime Vervloet, introduced Academie and its structure. Vervloet explained that each class has a maximum of 5 students, in order to provide extra individual care for each student. Moreover, Vervloet expressed his gratitude to the hardworking staff who makes big efforts to instaure a new learning space to students.

Claude Marinower then congratulated the staff for the attention they show in the development of the education.

The programme ended with a reception and resolutions for the New Year.
